SLS Software
SLS Software is a library management system developed by a voluntary group of professional librarians since 1991. It is specially designed for small and medium sized libraries, including school, special, government, church and university libraries. Currently there are more than 500 SLS users located in Hong Kong, Macau, China Mainland and Australia.
SLS Software includes everything you need to get your library running smoothly and effectively. You can install the system either on a standalone computer, on a local area network (LAN) or on your Intranet.
SLS Software supports international standards, including MARC21, ISO2709, Unicode, XML and SOAP. With the internationally adopted MARC standards, including MARC21 and LC's MARCXML Schema, you can easily interchange records among other standard library systems. In addition to the support of bilingual interfaces, SLS Software is Unicode enabled. This means you can store multi-script records (e.g. English, Portuguese, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Cyrillic, etc.) to the catalog and have them correctly displayed in the web browser.
With the module known as SLS XServe, which sits on top of the SLS Library Catalog and listens to database querying and updating requests, SLS users can, for the first time, communicate with the library catalog using their own tools and programming environment, just like you can use SQL to query a relational database. SLSBlio and remote catalog searching are based on this web services technology.
